- Ensure that CCFB stays in touch with the needs of libraries and communities across California
- Help promote CCFB programs and resources to libraries and communities across California
Current Advisory Council member, Beatriz Preciado, says of her time on the Advisory Council: It has been a real pleasure getting to know the advisory council members and being a part of the meaningful projects that have been launched to help support our California libraries. I am fortunate to be a part of a group that is passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to the library and the community they serve.
History of the Advisory Council
The California Center for the Book Advisory Council was formed in the fall of 2015. We strive for full capacity at 10 council members. There is no established term of service. We rely on active, open, engaged council members. Meetings are held twice a year, usually in March and September. Starting in 2017, meeting locations alternated between Northern and Southern California. During the coronavirus, we are meeting virtually. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2020, 10:00 am – 11:15 am via Zoom. Members are reimbursed for meeting travel expenses and provided with working lunches, but no additional compensation is offered. In addition to in-person or virtual meetings, we communicate as needed via Slack, email, and text. More about the Advisory Council can be found at /about/advisory-council/.
