I Learn America Pop Up Exhibit: Book to Action Series at Mill Valley Public Library

I Learn America Pop Up Exhibit with Film Director Jean Michel Dissard

MILL VALLEY PUBLIC LIBRARY

Monday, March 18th
Creekside Room – 7:00pm

Nearly one in four children in America is an immigrant or the children of immigrants. Film Director Jean-Michel Dissard has helped immigrant youth craft their stories for six years since his film, I Learn America (to be screened on 4/1/19), was first released and has turned the project into an online human library working with schools across the country. The Library is partnering with Dissard and Tamalpais High School to share the stories of our local immigrant students.

At this Pop Up program on March 18th there will be a photographic exhibit. Dissard will also show video clips and talk about the project, sharing stories previously recorded around the country.

Dissard will return to the Library on April 30 with a public presentation featuring some of the stories from immigrant students attending Tam High.

The #BookToAction program is supported by the California Center for the Book, a program of the California Library Association, supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
