Bring a writer to your rural library. Application for #RuralLibrariesTour now open! Apply by 11/22/2017 for programs January 2018-June 2018.
We are proud to partner with Poets & Writers, the nation’s largest nonprofit organization serving creative writers, to present poetry and writing workshops on the #RuralLibrariesTour. Many rural libraries lack the resources to attract quality adult programming for their community. Poets & Writers provides the experienced writers who host the workshops free of charge to the public. California Center for the Book coordinates with rural library staff, including librarians and Friends groups, and provides additional financial support to make it all happen!
Check out the 09/25/17 Traversing California on the Rural Libraries Tour post on the Poets & Writers Readings & Workshops blog for more information about past workshops.
2018 Target California Counties
From January 2018 – June 2018, we plan to provide 10 workshops in the following California counties: Colusa, Glenn, Imperial, Kings, Madera, Plumas, San Benito, San Bernardino, Shasta, and Tehama.
Is your library in one of the ten counties targeted for 2018? Are you interested in bringing an engaging professional writer to your location? If so, please apply to host a workshop. Workshops may be hosted at a rural library or in collaboration with a rural library. Applications are due 11/22/2017. Notifications will be made in December 2018.
