On January 26, 2017, California Center for the Book hosted a training at Sacramento Public Library. A group of California librarians learned more about the 5 Steps of Outcome-Based Planning and Evaluation from Dr. Cindy Mediavilla and Dr. Virginia Walter.
At the end of the training, Sacramento Public Library did a wonderful job explaining how they used a version of library bingo as an effective and fun adult program during the 2016 pilot of the Library Bingo: Read, Connect, Discover project. Their presentation, which shares lessons learned from 2016 and plans for 2017, is shared below. We love how each of their cards had a distinct focus (Go Local or Go Read), both of which encouraged participants to connect, read, discover and try something new! You’ll also want to check out their custom Library Bingo landing page for more inspiration.
We know that even adults love prizes and recognition. Sacramento Library used a handy cardholder, featured below as one of two popular prizes for Library Bingo in 2016. An inexpensive prize for adults that promotes the library and reading? It’s a win-win. Thanks again to our Sacramento hosts for the hospitality and great ideas!
