The National African American Read-In

Now in its 26th year, the National African American Read-In asks schools, churches, libraries, bookstores, community and professional organizations, and interested citizens to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month by hosting an African American Read-In. The Read-In’s sponsors, the Black Caucus of the National Association of Teachers of English, invite you to host an event any time during the month of February: “Hosting an event can be as simple as bringing together friends to share a book, or as elaborate as arranging public readings and media presentations that feature professional African American writers.” An online toolkit of bookmarks, booklists and articles can be accessed at http://www.ncte.org/aari/toolkit.
